DescriptionDepart Ho Chi Minh City at approximately 07:30 and journey to the Mekong Delta by van. Upon arrival, collect your bike and get a welcome coffee or tea at a small village cafe before the start of your 25-kilometer bike ride. Then, cycle through a serene countryside, pedaling rural roads past countless rice paddies, vegetable farms and orchards full of fruit. Experience Vietnam's most abundant agricultural region and meet local artisans, farmers and weavers along the way. Stop at a small shop to see the traditional woven mats and visit a nearby cocoa plantation to experience one of the most famous crops of the region. Continue to 2 very traditional wet markets that sell fresh fruits and vegetables and freshly-caught fish from the local rivers and streams. Get stunning views across the rice fields, and pedal along smaller dirt tracks that are safe even for a casual cyclist. Continue south to where the rural roads give way to concrete canal paths, and marvel as the vegetation becomes more dense and the streams start to look like the larger tributaries of the Mekong Delta. Go to the region's largest wholesale fresh produce market to look at the fresh water shrimp cultivated indoors. Stop at a traditional Cao Dai temple before a lunch prepared in a private home with garden patio for dining. Take a short rest after your meal, and then board a small canal boat for a relaxing journey through the quiet canals of the delta. Savor the diversity and flavors of the day before boarding a private van for the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.
