Notre Dame Cathedral

Vietnam

Things To Do Landmarks & Museums

This Neo-Romanesque Catholic church was built between 1877 and 1883 and is right next to the Central Post Office. It is also only a few hundred meters from the Reunification Palace.

Two 40-meter high towers make this pink, red colored brick church stand out and romantically rise from the heart of the city. The bricks came from Marseille in order to build this iconic place of worship. This is a popular place for pictures and if you need to mail anything, you'll be right next to the Saigon Post Office! In front of the church there is a statue of the Virgin Mary that faces the famous shopping street of Dong Khoi. In 2005, it was rumored that the statue shed a tear but the Catholic church of Vietnam denied this...

Sunday morning at 9:30 there is a mass where you can have a look at the outside procedure as well as the inside. The rest of the week the church is open for the public to have a view from the inside at its inlaid tiles, statues, and decorations.
