First stop is Vinh Moc Tunnels, The tunnel complex was built to shelter the people of Son Trung and Son Ha communes in the Vinh Linh districts of Quang Tri Province. It was constructed in several stages, constructed in 1966 and coming into use in 1971. This underground tunnels complex grew to consist of wells, kitchens, rooms for each family, clinics, etc.

Hien Luong Bridge across the Ben Hai river formed part of the border between North and South Vietnam from 1954 until reunification and was thus a crucial spot in the Dmz of Vietnam.
