Description

Day 1: Lao Cai – Bac Ha Arrive early in the morning and be greeted by your guide at Lao Cai train station. Transfer to a local restaurant for breakfast. After breakfast, start cycling from Lao Cai on a flat road leading towards Bac Ngam. Pass by the peaceful countryside of the Red River valley, with villages and rice fields along the way. Arrive in Bac Ngam by noon and stop for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, tackle a long and sometimes steep ascent to Bac Ha. If you feel tired, your jeep will pick you up and give you a lift to Bac Ha. Check in to your hotel, where you will stay for the next two nights. Enjoy a cold drink, a shower, and a delicious dinner. Day 2: Bac Ha Biking Tour Today, visit the Can Cau market. The road between Bac Ha and Can Cau is hilly but extremely beautiful. The ride will take around 1.5 hours. Spend the morning walking around the market, exploring its magnificent chaos. Have a picnic lunch on the way. In the afternoon, head back to Bac Ha. Take a nice ride to Ban Pho village of Flower Hmong and Nung minorities, which is nearby Bac Ha. Visit a local house, where you might have the chance to taste a cup of corn wine, another famous product of the village. Spend another night in the hotel. Day 3: Bac Ha – Lao Cai After a morning coffee, take a short walk to visit the old castle of the former Hmong King. From there, enjoy a view over the town. Then, visit the huge Bac Ha market with its colorful array of ethnic minority people such as Flower Hmong, Phu La, Black Dao, Tay, and Nung who gather to buy and sell. After spending the morning exploring the market, have lunch in a local restaurant. Start cycling downhill from Bac Ha to Bao Nhai, where you will get on a boat to cruise on the Chay River. Finish your trip by sitting in the boat, exploring the life at the riverbank. Your jeep will wait for you in Coc Ly and take you to Lao Cai Railways Station to reach the train back to Hanoi.

  • The tour involves cycling on hilly and sometimes steep roads. The Can Cau market is only open on Saturday morning and the Bac Ha market is only open on Sunday morning. Participants should have a moderate level of fitness.
