Business Hours

Business Hours

A normal work day in Vietnam begins at sun up and ends around 5 pm. Many non-food Vietnamese shops (like print shops, pharmacies and stores) actually stay open later, and may close between 6pm and 9pm.

Outdoor markets will take a break during the hottest part of the day, from around noon until 2 pm, and then re-open for the second part of the day.

In the larger cities, like Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, the main hubs for tourist activity, you’ll find restaurants and nightlife stay open until midnight or much later (some clubs stay open til 4 am)! Street food vendors also cook up food until the late hours of the night.

Then there are also 24-hour convenience stores such as Circle K and B’s Mart that are always open for business.

These hours can vary from city to city throughout Vietnam, but here is a general guideline:

Banks: 8 am - 4 pm weekdays, 8 am -12 pm Saturday

Offices and museums: around 8 am - 5 pm (varies from place to place, and some museums can close on Mondays, as well as take a “lunch break” from approx. 11:30 pm - 1:30 pm)

Temples and pagodas: 7 am - 8 pm

Restaurants: 11:30 am - 9 pm (with the exception of some Western-style restaurants that are also open earlier for breakfast)

Shops: 8 am - 6 pm
