Description

Begin your journey with a pickup from your hotel in Hue City. Head to Thanh Toan Village to visit the local market (open in the morning only) and the Thanh Toan Covered Bridge. Experience the peaceful rural life of the Hue people, get closer to the locals, and learn about their daily lives.

Next, visit the Historical Chin Ham Relic, a prison first built by the French and used as weapon storage during the French War. When the Vietnam War started in 1954, Ngo Dinh Can (brother of the first South Vietnam President Ngo Dinh Diem) used these bunkers to confine Viet Cong and Hue locals who disagreed with the South Vietnam Government. Most of the bunkers were destroyed by bombs during wartime, and only one is being preserved now.

Continue to the Thuy Tien Abandoned Water Park. Originally built in 2004, this water park spans an area of 49.9 hectares. However, the project did not achieve the desired business results and was forced to close. Subsequently, after a change in ownership and management, the Thuy Tien Lake tourist site in Hue became an abandoned park for a considerable period of time. In 2016, the Huffingtonpost.com (USA) published an article showcasing the eerie and desolate images of this tourist site.

Next, head to a conical hat and incense-making workshop that specializes in making incense sticks and conical hats. Learn about how local people have been using traditional methods to make a living for generations. Try making incense sticks to take home as a souvenir.

Then, visit the former American Bunker (Vong Canh Hills) with amazing views of the Perfume River. Listen as your guide provides more insight into the Vietnam War.

Finally, visit the Tiger-Elephant Arena, built in 1830 by King Minh Mang. Learn how the royal family arranged duels between elephants and tigers for entertainment and propaganda until 1904.
