Description

Discover the living heritage of Silk Hoa Lu, a traditional silk weaving and hand embroidery craft village in Ninh Binh. This experience is designed for travelers who want to go beyond sightseeing and take part in a meaningful local craft activity. Your visit begins at the Silk Hoa Lu mulberry garden, where you will learn how mulberry leaves are grown and used to feed silkworms. Walk through the garden with your guide, see the silkworms, and discover how this small creature becomes the beginning of a long and delicate silk-making journey. Continue to the silk reeling and weaving workshop, where local artisans introduce the traditional process of turning cocoons into silk threads. You will see how silk is reeled, twisted, prepared on the loom, and woven by hand using traditional tools and techniques. After the guided heritage walk, enjoy free time to explore, take photos, and relax with a complimentary mulberry drink. You will then choose one hands-on craft workshop to create your own handmade souvenir. Depending on your interest, you can dye a cotton scarf using botanical colors or embroider a cotton handkerchief, or weave a mini rug from recycled fabrics. This experience is a gentle, creative, and family-friendly way to understand Vietnamese silk culture, meet local artisans, and bring home a small handmade memory from Ninh Binh.
