Cu Chi Tunnels
Vietnam
The Cu Chi Tunnels is a network of tunnels extending over 250 km, originally made during the French occupation in the 1940's and further expanded during the War with the USA in the 1960s and 1970s. This is a place where you will get more information and an understanding of the life underground during the war.
You will be shown around the area by tour guides who will educate you on how the tunnels were constructed to include rooms and traps. Of course, you can also crawl through the tunnels yourself to experience how the locals must have felt. You will have the option to crawl through the original tunnel size or, for the claustrophobic travelers, you can check out the parts that have been made bigger.
There are also opportunities to buy souvenirs and fire fully automatic weapons in the shooting range nearby. You will need to pay about 1 USD per bullet (minimum 10 bullets per weapon), but with a range of different guns it is fun for a group to try 5 or 6 types!
To get there you can arrange a tour with several providers by bus, private car or public bus. It will take you around 60 to 90 minutes to get there from Ho Chi Minh City.
