Description

Leave the busy streets of Ho Chi Minh City behind and venture deep into the Mekong Delta for two days of cycling, kayaking, boating, swimming, local food, wildlife, fireflies, and authentic countryside life.

This is more than a sightseeing tour. It’s an active, off-the-beaten-track adventure designed to take you beyond the usual tourist routes and closer to the real Mekong. Cycle 30–40 km each day through quiet village lanes, fruit orchards, coconut groves, riverside paths, island trails, and peaceful countryside roads. Paddle a kayak for at least 1 hour each day through narrow canals and natural waterways surrounded by tropical vegetation.

Day 1 – Cycle, Explore & Sunset Kayaking

Travel into the heart of the Mekong Delta and begin cycling through hidden countryside roads and local villages. Visit a morning local market or wet market to experience everyday life as locals shop for fresh fruit, vegetables, seafood, herbs, and other ingredients.

Continue by bike through orchards, coconut gardens, villages, and islands, crossing small local ferries and stopping to enjoy seasonal fruit, Vietnamese coffee, and a local lunch.

In the afternoon, switch from bicycle to kayak and paddle for at least one hour through peaceful canals and waterways. Look for birds, fish, and Mekong wildlife as the countryside becomes quieter. Enjoy kayaking around sunset before arriving at your local homestay.

Meet your hosts, enjoy a traditional Vietnamese dinner, and take part in a simple local cooking experience. After dark, explore the peaceful surroundings and, in suitable conditions, look for fireflies glowing along the riverbanks.

Day 2 – Sunrise Kayaking, Wildlife & Countryside Cycling

Wake early and experience the Mekong at sunrise. Paddle for around one hour through calm waterways as local boats, fishermen, farmers, and villages slowly come to life. The quiet morning is also an ideal time to observe Mekong birdlife and wildlife.

Return to the homestay for breakfast before setting off on another 30–40 km cycling adventure. Ride through quiet village lanes, island paths, orchards, coconut groves, farms, and riverside trails. Visit a local morning or wet market and experience the daily rhythm of rural Vietnam away from the crowds.

Enjoy a fresh local lunch before continuing your final cycling route and exploring more hidden corners of the Delta. Depending on the route and conditions, the day may also include local ferry crossings, walking through villages, a short boat ride, or a visit to a family-run farm.

Later in the afternoon, begin the journey back to Ho Chi Minh City.

From sunrise to sunset, from hidden cycling trails to peaceful waterways, and from local markets to fireflies after dark, discover a different side of the Mekong Delta.

Ride. Paddle. Swim. Explore. Meet locals. Stay local. Experience the wild Mekong beyond the crowds.
