Propoganda Restaurant
Vietnam
Propaganda Restaurant gets its name from a hand-painted propaganda mural along one wall. The couches lining the walls are in similar design representing the 1960s, but the interesting thing to note is the bright red metal chairs and simple place settings that indicate present day. It is located in the heart of Saigon and it offers a wide range of classic Vietnamese cuisine including spring rolls and Vietnamese street food with a Western twist. Lunch time is a busy part of the day for this restaurant and the alfresco dining tables typically fill up quickly with office workers and expatriates on their lunch breaks.
Service is warm, the background music spunky, and the homemade food is fresh! They serve some substantial meals, even by western standards, like one of the four course meals expertly matched with wine! Though you can find plenty of street food vendors making similar dishes at half the price, you will be quite pleased you chose to eat this meal inside. With the innovative fusion tastes like barbecued honey pork chop served with pandan leaf broken rice. Typically pork is lathered in an addictive fish sauce on the street, but this is certainly delicious as well.
