Join us for a day of wood carving in Gonoi Village, just 17 km from Hội An, where you’ll learn to craft your own wooden statue alongside a skilled local carver. It’s not just a fun and hands-on experience—it’s also the perfect way to step away from the busy tourist crowds and soak in some tranquility. As you head to the workshop, you’ll pass through peaceful village landscapes, with rice paddies and rivers unfolding along the way—pure countryside charm. Once you arrive, meet our talented artist, who’ll take you on a quick tour of two incredible art rooms. First, step into the world of the father, a celebrated national artist, whose mini museum showcases massive sculptures that bring Vietnamese history and culture to life. Then, wander into the next room to admire his son’s modern creations, blending tradition with a fresh twist. Next, head out to the open-air classroom beside the workshop, where a skilled local Vietnamese artisan will guide you through the art of wood carving. You’ll get hands-on with saws, chisels, and engraving pens, shaping your very own wooden statue—whether it’s an animal, a flower, or any design that sparks your imagination. Once you’ve carved the basic outline of your piece, we’ll take a break at 11:30 to enjoy lunch with the artist’s family. You’re in for a treat—a delicious vegetarian meal whipped up by the artist’s wife, served with warm hospitality. After about an hour of relaxing and refueling, we’ll get back to work at 1:00 PM, adding those final details to bring your creation to life. By 5:00 PM, you’ll have finished your masterpiece, and our driver will whisk you back to Hội An. You’ll leave with your hand-carved statue, a fun story to tell, and some new wood carving skills to impress your friends back home.
