  • Experience a historic secret weapon cellar
  • Wander through Chinatown and the Binh Tay wholesale market
  • Try a Banh Mi
  • Experience the afternoon Buddhist service at the Vinh Nghiem Pagoda

Your trip will start from your hotel, before you drive down Saigon’s busy boulevards which are teaming with daily life. After a short trip, you will stop at one of Vietnam’s iconic locations, the Thich Quang Duc monk statue. This location is the spot where a monk burnt himself to death in protest of the Vietnamese war on the 11th of June, 1963. Your next stop is the hidden weapon storage cellar that was used by communist soldiers as they prepared for the revolution on the 30th April, 1975. Nearly three tons of weapons were kept in the cellar by Saigon Commandos, to attack the Presidential Palace during the Tet Offensive in 1968. It is one among many untold valuable exhibits that manifest the brilliant feats of both the Vietnamese people and army. Afterwards, you will make a quick pit-stop at Saigon’s smoothie and juice 'drive-through' shop, where you can try a delicious blend of Vietnam’s many tropical fruits. You will be able to sample such fruits as mangosteen, coconuts, custard apples and dragon-fruit, before you head onward to district 5 (Cho Lon), the Chinatown of Saigon. Here, you will discover a vibrant wholesale market where the majority of goods trading occurs in Saigon. You will also have the chance to try a Banh Mi here, which is a delicious Vietnamese baguette sandwich with pate, pork meat and herbs, complete with the kick of fresh chili. You will then continue to zigzag through District 5 into District 1, where you will have a late lunch at a local restaurant. Following lunch, you will visit one of Ho Chi Minh’s famous and most beautiful pagodas. Here, you can chill out and experience the afternoon Buddhist service, before being dropped back to your hotel at around 4:30PM.
